Its Ours!!

Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to live on this mountain. Twelve years ago, Mrs Hillbilly and I got the opportunity to move away from the trappings of city life and begin our adventure on Hillbilly Mountain. Never once have we looked back! Well, this year, we became Land Owners!! Now our adventure is about to take off to new heights. We are building our dream home!

Design and Conquer!!

We found ourselves a builder that was familiar with our little mountain, and we got to work. After weeks of designing, we knew just what we wanted.

We got our floor plan!

We acquired temporary housing!

The best of Friends and Family!!

We would not be where we are today, if not for the love and support of friends and family. Friends of ours let us borrow their travel trailer to save us the work and time it would have taken to outfit the storage container. With such a comfortable solution, the build time will go by like a breeze

Commence Operation: Hillbilly Magic

Now that our living situation is taken care of, we can begin prepping the property for major changes. First of all, the “Rat Kingdom” motor home has to be taken away. It was in the way of the heavy equipment, it didn’t run, and it was infested with rats.

We gave the motor home a new home!

Stage 1 - Total Destruction

After the motor home was given to a new loving home, it was time to evict the rest of the rodents from the mobile home. We brought in an excavator, and the old girl's day were numbered.

Concrete and Dreams Solidify

After the mobile home came down, and the pad was cleaned up, we were able to pour concrete. With this step we really began to see what our new home was going to look like, or at least what the overall footprint would look like.

Our dreams begin taking shape

With the addition of some lumber and nails, our dreams and our new home started to take shape. Things really started to get exciting at this point!

It looks like a house

Once the framing was complete, first came wiring and plumbing, then came insulation and drywall. This was when the rooms really became defined! We also got our windows and doors, our tub and shower inserts, and a temporary key!

Finishing touches begin

With the completion of drywall, the walls and ceiling all got sprayed with texture and painted. Then our cabinets and vanities could be installed. On the outside of the house, preparation for stucco began, as well as preparations for more concrete.
